Day 50: Peterborough

 Dear Gilles,

We drove Mom out to a weekend Quilt Retreat and decided to tour the town and attractions of Peterborough. We took some cousins out of school for the day to come and join us.

We visited "The City Hall" --- that's what the sign says. The giant Canadian flag outside was beautiful and friendly.

The clerks heard our story and went to search out lapel pins for us. They came back with pins, a sticker and a 'pen for mom' and they wanted to know more about the trip.

They recommended the zoo, and warned us that they were still recovering from the ice storm a few weeks ago.

And they said the Canoe Museum was a 'must do' place to visit.

The zoo was smallish - but FREE so we enjoyed the walk.

Then we headed to the museum. We spent more than an hour there. There was age appropriate scavenger hunts available - and they worked really well to keep everyone engaged and looking at the canoe details.

Then we drove to and by the Trent-Severn locks. There were people all along the shores - fishing.

We headed back for Toronto in rush hour.
